Gho Sze Kee on Land Transport and Related Matters (No. 2) Bill
The Ministry of Transport’s focus on mobility device batteries, which have been a major cause of fires involving mobility devices, is a step in the right direction, said MP Gho Sze Kee. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 7), she wanted to know how consumers can easily verify online sellers’ assertions that the batteries are compatible with their devices, and that the authorities are using the same reference. She pointed out that the onus of detection and policing still falls on the authorities, and that the Land Transport Authority still has to find the offending listings before action can be taken. This is resource consuming and quite inefficient, she said.
