Goh Pei Ming on extended care services by pre-schools
Today, around 20 pre-schools operate beyond 7pm on weekdays - a decrease from 40 pre-schools in 2021. Alternative options are available for parents who require additional caregiving support outside of the standard pre-school operating hours. These include paid and community-based options such as babysitting services. The launch of the Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement Requests was also launched in 2024 to better support working parents in their caregiving needs. Minister of State for Social and Family Development Goh Pei Ming said this in reply to an MP’s questions in parliament on Thursday (Feb 26).
