Hamid Razak on Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) (Amendment) and Other Matters Bill

The Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) (Amendment) and Other Matters Bill strengthens prevention upstream, tightens controls where the harm begins and provides a framework for early intervention and rehabilitation that is centred in the community, said MP Hamid Razak. Speaking in parliament on Friday (Mar 6), he pointed out that laws and penalties matter, but so too does understanding. He wanted to know how the government would ensure that there is preventive education and health literacy. Turning to enforcement and rehabilitation, he wanted to know how ready and prepared officers, support services and community-based agencies are in carrying out their duties.
