06:46 Min

According to the 2021 Marriage and Parenthood Survey of about 6,000 respondents, Singaporean women want to have at least two children, but in practice, married female respondents had fewer than two. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Indranee Rajah shared this in Parliament on Friday (Mar 3), in reply to an MP’s questions. She said common reasons cited for not having more children include concerns over the financial costs and stress of raising children, as well as difficulties in managing work and family demands. Ms Indranee said addressing the issues requires a whole-of-society approach where everyone is supportive of families and family well-being.
