Israeli lawmakers applaud Trump at Knesset as Hamas hands over all living hostages
US President Donald Trump has hailed a big step towards ending the two-year war in Gaza, with the first phase of the ceasefire deal on track. Israeli lawmakers applauded Mr Trump at the Knesset as he expressed his appreciation to mediators, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the US president for brokering the deal. Under the ceasefire deal, Hamas has freed 20 living Israeli captives, while Israel is due to release nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners held in its jails. Blake Sifton reports from Tel Aviv.
