Janil Puthucheary on managing construction noise near residential estates
Construction sites within 150 metres of residential premises have to install noise meters, which are monitored by the National Environment Agency (NEA). NEA takes strict enforcement action against contractors who exceed the permissible noise levels. It will continue to review the regulations to ensure that they remain relevant and effective in protecting public health.
