Janil Puthucheary on mental health support teams in schools
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has developed various mental health services catering to youths. In schools, the Response, Early Intervention and Assessment in Community Mental Health (REACH) service collaborates closely with the schools and families to provide mental health interventions. Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary outlined the support measures in reply to an MP’s question in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1). He said MOH will continue to work with the hospitals to ensure that there are adequate resources for the REACH teams to cope with the needs from schools. In the community, it has set up services to engage at-risk youths.
