Japan continues recovery 15 years after Fukushima nuclear disaster

A moment of silence was held across Japan today to mark 15 years since the Fukushima nuclear disaster, which was triggered by the earthquake and tsunami that killed more than 22,000 people. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi attended a memorial in Fukushima and pledged to strengthen Japan’s disaster response system. About 880 tonnes of melted fuel debris are still inside three reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. In February, TEPCO unveiled a 22-metre long, robotic arm designed to remove debris from reactor number two. Michiyo Ishida reports from Tokyo.
