04:41 Min

Government surveys have shown that most companies which adopt AI are redesigning jobs or creating new roles for workers, rather than reducing headcount. Acting Manpower Minister Jasmin Lau said this in parliament on Wednesday (Sep 9), adding that the Ministry of Manpower will do more to share relevant case studies. She outlined employment pathways that have been developed for workers who need to move into different roles. Ms Lau was replying to an MP’s questions about how the adoption of AI and humanoid robots is affecting vulnerable workers who may be unable to transition readily into new occupations.
