Jessica Tan on Singapore’s COVID-19 response
While public communication during the COVID-19 pandemic was well-managed overall, there were challenges related to access to information or clarity that affected individuals and had ramifications on their movement, access to services and safety, said MP Jessica Tan. She proposed taking action in “peace time” to put in place a network for frontline communications closer to the community that is regularly exercised and tested so that it can be activated during the next pandemic or any other national crisis. This would include establishing standard operating procedures for two-way communication between the public and relevant agencies, as well as appropriate engagement and escalation among agencies. Ms Tan spoke in Parliament on Monday (Mar 20).
