Koh Poh Koon on guidelines to ensure 'spirit' of MediFund

04:18 Min

To apply for MediFund, applicants must be Singapore citizens who are subsidised patients and are receiving treatment from MediFund-approved institutions. As long as patients meet these eligibility criteria, the MediFund Committees (MFCs) have the flexibility and discretion over the assessment, approval and quantum of assistance to be provided. The Ministry of Health provides operational guidelines to MediFund-approved institutions, although the MFCs retain full discretion over the assets. Senior Minister of State for Health Koh Poh Koon outlined the guidelines to ensure that the "spirit" of MediFund is complied with, in reply to an MP's questions in Parliament on Monday (Mar 7).
