Koh Poh Koon on re-assessing use of HDB flat types as an eligibility criteria for Silver Support Scheme
Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon said property ownership is indicative of a senior’s resources and remains relevant in ensuring that the Silver Support Scheme is targeted at seniors who need it the most. He said those who own a five-room or larger HDB flat are likely to have more resources and access to additional retirement funds and are not eligible for Silver Support. But he said those who face unique circumstances can write in to the Central Provident Fund Board to review their eligibility. The merits of each appeal will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Dr Koh was replying to an MP’s question in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 7).
