The move to hike the GST is "unnecessary, untimely and uncompassionate", said NCMP Leong Mun Wai as he reiterated his opposition to the planned move. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Nov 7), he again pointed out that the sandwiched class "will be paying S$1.2 billion more" as a result of the full implementation of the GST hike at a time of soaring inflation and escalating housing prices. He went on to share the story of "Ah Gong" and "Ah Seng",  building on the version of former MP Lee Bee Wah, to illustrate what is happening and "let Singaporeans decide".
