Malaysia state elections: Johor votes on Jul 11, Negeri Sembilan heads to polls on Aug 1

Two states in Malaysia are heading for elections — Johor in the south will hold polls on Jul 11, while Negeri Sembilan in the west will do so on Aug 1. For Johor, nomination day falls on Jun 27. Following a 14-day campaign period, more than 2.7 million voters will choose their representatives for all 56 seats in the state assembly. In Negeri Sembilan, which has close to 900,000 eligible voters, nominations will take place on Jul 18 for all 36 seats. Coalition partners in the federal-level unity government, Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, are expected to face off in the state elections.
