Marcos highlights women’s role at UN, seeks backing for Security Council bid

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday highlighted the vital role of women in society in remarks to the UN Commission on the Status of Women, reaffirming the Philippines’ commitment to gender equality and women’s rights. The President is at the UN as part of a working trip, where he hopes to also rally support for the Philippines' bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
