05:35 Min

The debate on Section 377A is an opportunity to open meaningful conversations about equality and inclusivity in Singapore's society, said NMP Mark Chay. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Nov 28), he proposed ways to achieve a more inclusive society. He asked if the Government can consider coordinating a policy review and ensure that those who are not married are actively considered as part of the policy-making process. He also urged the Ministry of Education to have meaningful conversations with students to better understand issues such as handling relationships, as well as promote inclusivity. He also expressed hope that the day will come when Singapore does not have to rely on the Constitution to safeguard and respect its differences but count on shared love and beliefs and even celebrate its differences as a diverse and harmonious nation.
