Between 2018 and 2022, the Government provided an estimated total of S$25.7 billion in support to resident households with at least one citizen or Permanent Resident senior aged 65 and above. This covered healthcare, social support and housing-related transfers, said Social and Family Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli in Parliament on Tuesday (Jul 4). Replying to an MP’s question, he said eligible seniors are also getting help this year to cope with the rising cost of living. This includes up to S$700 cash support in June, GST cash payments of up to S$700, GST MediSave top-ups of up to S$450 in August and Assurance Package cash payouts of up to S$600 in December.
