Masagos Zulkifli on take-up for Lasting Power of Attorney
There has been a big rise in the number of registrations for Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), from around 2,200 in 2013 to more than 32,000 in 2021. Nearly 95 per cent of the 153,000 Singaporeans who have registered an LPA benefited from the authorities waiving the S$75 application fee, said Social and Family Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli. Responding to MPs’ questions in Parliament on Monday (Nov 7), Mr Masagos said LPAs can be made online from Nov 14 and the application form will be an easy questionnaire with user guides available in the four official languages. He also said the Office of the Public Guardian and Agency for Integrated Care will run a publicity and outreach campaign over the next three years to encourage Singaporeans, especially those aged 50 and above, to make their LPAs and advance care plans.
