Motion: Valerie Lee on reinforcing Singapore’s position as a global transport hub
Singapore’s story has always been one of reinvention and moving up the value chain, said MP Valerie Lee in parliament on Tuesday (Jul 7). So, it must not remain simply a place where goods pass through, but aspire to be “the region’s supply chain control tower”. She asked about the government’s long-term strategy to position it as such, beyond strengthening physical connectivity. She also asked about maximising the opportunities presented by eastern Singapore which, beyond Changi Airport Terminal 5, has the potential to become an integrated gateway for aviation, maritime connectivity, logistics, business and tourism.
