03:48 Min

Transit passengers are allowed to stay in the transit area of Changi Airport for up to 72 hours to wait for their connecting flights. Passengers departing from Singapore will be allowed entry into the transit area if their flights are departing within the next 24 hours. Security agencies conduct regular patrols and look out for people who may not have a valid reason to be in the transit area. The Airport Police engages the airport community on ways to look out for suspicious behaviour and unattended items. Airline staff will alert the Airport Police of passengers who do not turn up for their flight. The Airport Police works with the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority to identify people who may have been in the transit area without a valid reason. Minister of State for Home Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim outlined these measures in reply to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Friday (Feb 16).
