Murali Pillai on cybersecurity incident involving SLA vendor
In parliament on Wednesday (Aug 5), Senior Minister of State for Law Murali Pillai addressed questions on a cybersecurity incident involving the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and a cloud environment managed by its vendor IBM, in which the personal data of about 70,000 people was compromised. Mr Murali said the systems are regularly audited, with the last time being in 2025. That audit prioritised broader security and resilience controls and did not identify the incomplete anonymisation of personal data. He added that appropriate action will be determined after ongoing investigations are complete.
