Nadia Ahmad Samdin on Coastal Protection and Other Amendments Bill

Coastal protection is a collective responsibility across government, landowners and the wider community, said MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin. The Coastal Protection and Other Amendments Bill is an important step in ensuring that Singapore’s shores remain safe, healthy and accessible, she said. Speaking in parliament on Friday (Mar 6), she pointed out that the interests of landowners may be more site-specific than system-wide and wanted to know how PUB would guide and support them in taking a holistic and long-term approach to coastal protection. She also wanted to know how the government would support landowners if future standards require upgrades to earlier works.
