Nearly 300 businesses, shops in Singapore found to have unverified weighing scales in 2024
Nearly 300 businesses and shops were found to have weighing scales that were either unverified or had expired labels last year, marking an increase from the year before. These scales put customers at risk of paying wrong or unfair prices because of inaccurate readings. Officers from Enterprise Singapore's Weights and Measures Office conducted spot checks on stores that are especially popular during the Chinese New Year season. Around 1,200 spot checks are done at physical shops and online businesses islandwide every year.
