New federation for mind sports to be launched in Singapore to boost development of 4 games

A new mind sports federation will be launched in Singapore by March to prepare athletes for major regional multi-sport events and grow mass participation. The body will coordinate efforts by the chess, contract bridge, Weiqi and Xiangqi associations, following new laws recognising such games as sports. Chess participation has surged in recent years, while bridge and other disciplines face space and talent pipeline challenges.
