Ong Ye Kung on lapsed COVID-19 vaccination status
A majority of Singaporeans who did not get their COVID-19 booster shots by the Feb 14 deadline to keep their vaccination status are seniors aged 60 and above. They did not get their jabs mainly because they seldom go out, feel adequately protected with their primary vaccination and prefer to delay their booster vaccination. Health Minister Ong Ye Kung shared these findings in reply to Parliamentary questions on Monday (Feb 28). He also gave a breakdown of the 21,800 individuals aged 18 and above whose vaccination status lapsed on Feb 14. Of these, 38 per cent are work pass holders, 14 per cent Permanent Residents and the remaining are Singaporeans. He said that while the Ministry of Health is unable to ascertain why they did not get their booster shots, indications are that many of them are overseas.
