Paris Paralympics: Lighting of cauldron set to be centrepiece of opening ceremony
The opening ceremony for the 2024 Paralympics will take place later today, with the lighting of the cauldron set to be the centrepiece of the event. The flame that will ignite the cauldron made its way across France in a series of events before arriving in Paris. 12 torches were spread across the Île-de-France, with officials asking communities and spectators to get behind the Paralympics. Once the Games get underway, there will be 549 gold medal events. The Paralympics will end with the closing ceremony at the Stade de France on 8 September. Ross Cullen reports.
