Parliament formally reappoints Sanae Takaichi as Japan’s prime minister
Japan's parliament has formally confirmed the reappointment of Sanae Takaichi, as prime minister. Her Liberal Democratic Party, along with coalition partner - the Japan Innovation Party won more than two-thirds of seats in the Lower House. This is Ms Takaichi’s second Cabinet since taking office in October. The foreign, finance and defence ministers from her first Cabinet will remain in their posts. Riding on high parliamentary support, Ms Takaichi looks set to forge ahead with her expansionist fiscal policy, as promised. Michiyo Ishida with more on the prime minister’s priorities.
