Patrick Tay on SkillsFuture Singapore Agency and Skills Development Levy amendment bills
There is a pressing need for SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to be given more powers to investigate and prosecute abuse of funding and misleading advertising. At the same time, this must not dampen the important role which private training providers play in the training, transformation and lifelong learning ecosystem, said MP Patrick Tay. He called for additional levels of communication between SSG and training providers before remedial directions are issued; greater clarity on what constitutes an offence and reasonable cause for inspections; specifications on the credentials and accountability of SSG inspectors; and a reasonable timeframe for investigations to be completed. Mr Tay spoke in Parliament on Monday (Jan 9).
