The proposed amendments strengthen the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Bill for victims and better calibrate the significant powers that parliament is vesting in the Online Safety Commission, said Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Nov 5), he also had queries that cover about 10 clauses. One of them is on preventive education. He wanted to know more about the scope and outreach plans of the government to address online harms, with particular focus on juveniles and young adults. He also wanted to know how the regulations would address the ambit of private information and whether the bill can be extended to all work pass holders in Singapore.
