The Ministry of Health (MOH) will continue to look at measures to manage healthcare costs and ensure that all Singaporeans have access to good and affordable basic healthcare, said Minister of State for Health Rahayu Mahzam. Replying to an MP’s question in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 12) on whether Integrated Integrated Shield Plan (IP) insurance can be made portable in a way that is helpful for existing and future policyholders, she noted that the suggestion has been raised a number of times. MOH has carefully studied the issue, including the arrangements in other countries, she added. She stressed the importance of MediShield Life for Singapore, saying it ensures that all residents enjoy a basic level of protection against large hospital bills. “We will continue to ensure that MediShield Life stays relevant and affordable to Singaporeans as our national health insurance scheme,” she said.
