LTA seizes 30 non-compliant mobility devices in three-day operation to tackle rise in fires

03:06 Min

Singapore authorities have seized 30 illegal active mobility devices (AMDs) during a three-day islandwide operation. This brings the total number of AMDs seized to 700 in the first 10 months of 2025. Over the same period, there were 44 AMD-related fires, which the Land Transport Authority hopes to prevent. The LTA requires motorised devices to meet safety standards and be certified before they can be used in Singapore. The safety certificate is voided and the risk of fire is greatly increased when electrical parts are replaced with third-party or non-original ones. Eugene Chow reports.
