S$407 million for more than 29,000 households in latest tranche of Home Improvement Programme
Nine in 10 eligible flats have been selected for the Home Improvement Programme since it started in 2007. This includes more than 29,000 households in older estates that will get their turn at a refresh, in the latest tranche of the programme announced on Sunday. They include the first 10 blocks in Pioneer to benefit from the HIP.
S$407 million dollars will be set aside for these works. Essential improvements include new clothes drying racks that are retractable and safer to use, as well as the repairing of structural cracks. On top of these, residents can also opt to upgrade their bathrooms, doors, and gates. Selected households can also opt for senior-friendly fittings such as grab bars and foldable shower seats. As of March 2024, the government has spent about S$4 billion on the HIP. Charlotte Lim with more.
