Saktiandi Supaat on Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill
As a global centre for investments, Singapore must strive to maintain its track record of stable governance and a key distinguishing feature is far-sighted planning, said MP Saktiandi Supaat. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Nov 7), he noted the substantial assistance to help Singaporeans cope with the cost-of-living pressures. He voiced confidence that the Government would add to that support if the economic situation continues to worsen. He asked if the Government would consider raising the per capita income threshold for the definition of low-income households so that a broader base of Singaporeans can benefit from its support packages. Mr Saktiandi stressed the need to implement the GST increase carefully and not leave those who are more vulnerable behind.
