Sharael Taha on Workplace Fairness (Dispute Resolution) Bill
For Singapore’s new workplace fairness legislation to be truly effective, most disputes should ideally be resolved through internal grievance-handling processes and mediation, without going to adjudication which risks creating an adversarial climate that will benefit no one. Making this point in parliament on Tuesday (Nov 4), MP Sharael Taha asked about measures to strengthen those first two steps. He said this could include collecting data to fine-tune policies and helping companies, especially SMEs, to effectively handle grievances and build fair employment systems.
