Shawn Huang on correlation between PSLE results and socio-economic status
The correlation between the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) results and socio-economic status (SES) has remained stable over the past three years, and the Ministry of Education (MOE) is committed to ensuring that the education system provides opportunities for all students to develop to their full potential, regardless of their backgrounds. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education Shawn Huang said this in parliament on Monday (Mar 3) in a reply to an MP’s questions. He added that lower-SES students have done well by international standards, based on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022 and highlighted several efforts by MOE to continue to uplift these students.
