Shawn Loh on motions for grants to support IMF trusts
Singapore has long benefited from today’s global order, built on multilateral institutions - and it has been giving back as a responsible member of the global community, said MP Shawn Loh. However, he asked what Singapore’s long-term strategy should be as a more fragmented world order emerges, driven by self-interest among states - with institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) likely to come under extreme stress. In parliament on Wednesday (Feb 4), Mr Loh also asked if the government can track where Singapore’s contributions are used so that it can find ways to deepen economic relations with those countries.
