Singapore economy exceeded expectations to grow 4% in 2024: PM Wong in New Year message

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said the next steps to renew the social compact and refresh the Singapore Dream will be set out in next year's Budget. In his New Year message, Mr Wong said the economy grew by 4%, exceeding expectations and beating initial forecasts of 3.5%. He urged Singaporeans to continue supporting each other in the face of challenges. As Singapore celebrates its 60th birthday next year, Mr Wong said it's also a time to reflect on shared values and think about shaping the nation's future.
