Singapore giving plants to Timor-Leste to help reforest its barren land

02:50 Min

Singapore is gifting Timor-Leste special plant types to help the country quicken efforts to reforest its barren land. Only two dense forests remain in the country — the rest destroyed in part by illegal logging and bushfires. Under the tie-up with Singapore's Gardens by the Bay, the goal is to plant a million trees every year in Timor-Leste. The three-year deal will also enhance knowledge exchange. Eugene Chow reports from Timor-Leste's capital, Dili.
