Singapore to streamline COVID-19 and border rules, announces new VTL with Hong Kong | Video
Singapore’s COVID-19 rules will be streamlined so that they are easier to understand, announced co-chair of the multi-ministry task force Gan Kim Yong on Feb 16 during a news conference. The changes will focus on the five “most important and effective measures” - group sizes, mask-wearing, workplace requirements, safe distancing and capacity limits. COVID-19 rostered routine testing will also no longer be required for most workers from Feb 18. For those who have been identified as close contacts of COVID-19 cases will soon have their self-monitoring period reduced from seven days to five too. This comes under a revised measure called Health Risk Notice (HRN) which will be introduced on Feb 18 as well. The taskforce also introduced streamlined border measures, including a new way of categorising countries. Alongside that, the Ministry of Health (MOH) also announced the launch of vaccinated travel lanes (VTLs) with Hong Kong and other regions. In an update on Singapore, Mr Gan noted the healthcare system remains stable despite the high number of COVID-19 cases. This is the full press conference, including Q&A with the media.
