Singapore's job market ends 2024 on steady note, resident employment up in higher-skilled roles

11:05 Min

Singapore's labour market ended 2024 on a steady note, with resident employment growing in higher-skilled sectors like healthcare. Layoffs were also lower than in 2023, even as overall job growth slowed in the last quarter. Associate Professor Walter Theseira from SUSS shares his take on the Q4 Labour Market Report, including some insights on how some roles might need higher skills, if the local workforce is being trained fast enough to move into these high-skilled jobs, and whether the quarter-on-quarter increase in retrenchments between Q3 2024 and Q4 2024 is cause for concern. CNA's Kate Low has more.
