Singapore needs to be prepared for impact of war on Iran to persist for some time: DPM Gan
Electricity, transport and daily necessities are expected to become more expensive in Singapore, with the impact from the war on Iran likely lasting even after the conflict ends. Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong said the government's long-term strategy includes diversifying sources of supply and ensuring the free flow of energy and goods. While early GDP data shows growth remained resilient in Q1 2026, momentum is expected to slow. Mr Gan added that the Ministry of Trade and Industry will monitor developments closely and update Singapore's GDP forecast in May. Nadirah Zaidi reports.
