Longer train service closures expected as rail systems undergo renewal

Longer train service closures are expected as authorities prioritise the renewal of critical rail systems to reduce disruptions. The move follows recommendations by a rail reliability taskforce formed after disruptions between last July and September affected thousands of commuters. Plans include upgrading the North East Line’s power supply system, harmonising condition monitoring across lines, improving fault response times and deploying bridging buses more quickly.
