Singapore navy launches first of six multi-role combat vessels

02:51 Min

The Republic of Singapore Navy has launched what it calls its largest and most complex warship to be built to date in Singapore. Named Victory — the first of six multi-role combat vessels — the 150-metre ship has an operational range exceeding 7,000 nautical miles. The new MRCV is designed to be a capable fighting ship, yet flexible enough to be deployed for other missions. It also functions as a "mothership" for multiple unmanned naval operations. The navy said this will enhance Singapore's ability to safeguard the sea lines of communication and contribute to regional security. Jeraldine Yap reports.
