Sun Xueling on use of educational technology
The use of educational technology is meant to complement and not dilute the central role of teachers in guiding students to learn and master different subjects, said Minister of State for Education Sun Xueling in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 3). She was answering an MP’s question on whether a proposed AI-powered marking system for English in the online portal, the Student Learning Space, might undermine students’ creative potential. Ms Sun said the system will provide personalised feedback on fundamentals such as spelling and grammar, allowing teachers to focus on guiding students in more complex topics like language construction, creative expression and tone.
