Tan Chuan-Jin on revised COVID-19 measures in Parliament
For the first time in Singapore’s 14th Parliament, which opened on 24 August 2020, all Members are able to conduct proceedings while seated within the chamber on the same floor. Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin highlighted this "milestone" in Parliament on Monday (Apr 4) and outlined the revised safe management measures for the House as Singapore moves decisively to living with COVID-19. He said Parliament will continue to abide by the latest public health advisories and make adjustments according to the prevailing situation. "We have remained steadfast in carrying out our duties as Parliamentarians … did not let the virus slow us down and we soldiered on to complete the Parliamentary business before us," he said. He called for continued commitment and solidarity as Singapore moves into the next phase of fresh challenges, as well as opportunities.
