Tan See Leng on ensuring graduates find employment amid a tightening labour market

07:05 Min

Manpower Minister Tan See Leng said the tripartite partners comprising the Government, the National Trades Union Congress and the Singapore National Employers Federation have put in place a number of initiatives to support graduate employment. The Government works with the autonomous universities (AUs) to ensure that the supply of graduates takes into account industry demands and that graduates are equipped with industry-relevant skills. The AUs have also worked with employers to provide internships for students which allow them to connect what they learn in the classroom with the workplace. This also allows companies to access a pipeline of talent better aligned to industry needs. There is also the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning. Graduates can approach Workforce Singapore for career advice and coaching. Dr Tan was replying to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 6).
