Tan See Leng on Jobs Growth Incentive support for hiring ex-offenders
The Jobs Growth Incentive (JGI) scheme has supported the hiring of about 2,300 ex-offenders as at May 2022, based on the latest available data. The top 10 sectors hiring ex-inmates with JGI support are environmental services, logistics, food services, wholesale trade, construction, retail, professional services, food manufacturing, precision engineering and real estate. Yellow Ribbon Singapore (YRSG) has been raising awareness of the JGI among employers. Meanwhile, employers who hire ex-offenders directly through YRSG, the Industrial and Services Co-Operative Society or halfway houses engaged by the Singapore Prison Service automatically receive the JGI if they meet the eligibility criteria. Manpower Minister Tan See Leng gave these details in Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 10) in response to an MP’s questions.
