Tan See Leng on mitigating manpower crunch caused by COVID-19
COVID-19 has had a significant impact on Singapore’s labour market, with sectors relying most on foreign workers, such as construction and manufacturing, being most badly hit. Replying to an MP's question in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 3), Manpower Minister Tan See Leng said the Government will continue to help companies facing manpower shortages, by expanding local hiring and matching employers with experienced foreign workers already in the country. It is also facilitating the safe inflow of new foreign workers, with their numbers expected to rise with the progressive easing of COVID-19 border restrictions.
