Tan Yia Swam wraps up debate on motion on supporting healthcare
Parliament has committed to supporting healthcare beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the whole-of-Government efforts for consistent and sustainable support. This follows a debate on the motion moved by NMP Tan Yia Swam. Wrapping up the debate on Wednesday (May 10), Dr Tan said she is very heartened by the strong support for the motion. “This is the kind of fresh ideas that we need to have a synergistic whole,” she said. She urged Singaporeans to help ensure that healthcare gets the support it needs and to prioritise their own healthcare needs. To “make everyone care”, she stressed the need to walk the ground, get real feedback and acknowledge problems in healthcare, continue education at all levels of engagement, as well as collaborate across ministries, industries and the public-private divide.
