Thousands of Syrians celebrate during first Friday prayers since Assad's ouster

G7 leaders are set to meet later today to try to forge a common approach to the new government in Syria. Transition leaders have pledged to protect the rule of law, after years of abuse under ousted President Bashar al-Assad. In a statement released yesterday, the G7 reaffirmed its commitment to the Syrian people and pledged to support the transition to an "inclusive and non-sectarian" government. Meanwhile, thousands of Syrians have attended the first Friday prayers since Assad’s ouster at Damascus' landmark Umayyad Mosque. Philip Crowther reports from Damascus.
